Regrets of the past.
When it comes to tattoo art for the body. There are those who do and those who don’t. Then there are those who regret. Once a permanent reminder of past lovers, past dreams or past lives. The tattoo, the statement of your identity etched in ink is no longer as permanent as it once was.
Even the most famously tattooed woman in the world, Angelina Jolie has changed her mind about a tattoo. Exit Billy Bob Thornton enter Brad Pitt and six kids. If like Angelina your life has changed and the mistakes, mishaps, growing-out-of or just growing-up have changed your mind, well now, thanks to PicoSure® effective tattoo removal can put those things you no longer want to be reminded of safely in the past.
As you change, as your life changes, so too the tattoo you once loved and in a picosecond, it’s no more.
But it’s not always been so easy and technology has been lagging behind our regrets. The good news is the technology is getting better and better and the advanced technology of picosecond aesthetic lasers known as PicoSure® doesn’t just fade a tattoo but can remove every trace of the offending tattoo.*
A Picosecond?
This is laser technology at its best. It’s called PicoSure® and its maker’s CynoSure considers it to be a world’s first in fast and effective picosecond aesthetic laser.
A picosecond is an ultra-short pulse delivering bursts of energy to the skin. In fact, so short is the wavelength it delivers energy at a trillionth of a second.
The picosecond pulse width is 100 times shorter than nanosecond technology, enabling a photochemical impact (a chemical reaction initiated by the absorption of energy in the form of light) which provides better results with fewer treatments, less fluence (the amount of energy delivered ) and without injury to the surrounding skin.
What this means for you is fewer treatments, less social downtime after each treatment and far better results.
A tattoo of many colours.
The dual-wavelength of 755nm and 532nm means this laser system can remove even the difficult colours of a tattoo like blue, green, purple and black. In the past and with other lasers, it has been these deep pigments that continue to leave traces of the tattoo in the skin, so although the tattoo was removed there is still a lasting impression, difficult to fade or shift. Picosure® not only lifts these difficult pigments but it also minimises the risk of any post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation or uneven changes to the texture of the skin where a tattoo once was.
Being treated with PicoSure®.
The treatment is relatively comfortable and I suspect the tattoo in question probably caused more main than the laser treatment to remove it and with PicoSure® there is no need for anaesthetic.
Most patients will experience some redness and blistering immediately after the treatment which usually subsides within a couple of days.
During the treatment, the site being treated will turn frosty and white which is indicating the removal of pigment. This usually disappears after 30 minutes or so. It’s a good idea to keep the area cool with ice packs for a couple of hours after the treatment to reduce any inflammation.
The results of fading can usually be seen within 7 days of the first treatment. The practitioner who provided the treatment can then advise on how many more treatments you will need.
For the best outcomes, it’s extremely important to follow all the recommendation of your practitioner and as with all treatments of this nature, there can be side effects so always look for professionals who have the training and experience you can trust to minimise any possible adverse side effects.
*It’s important to note, the results will vary from patient to patient.
